Duties and responsibilities

The Head of Contracts Vetting Unit will be responsible to:

  • Mentor and Lead: Inspire, guide, and manage a high-performing team, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and smooth execution of all processes within the Unit.
  • Innovate and Ensure Excellence: Enhance workflows, efficiency, and accuracy whilst taking charge of quality assurance for documents issued by the Unit, ensuring they meet legal and regulatory requirements, align with approvals and Bank standards.
  • Collaborate & Connect: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and seamless collaboration to meet Bank and customer expectations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department in the interest of ensuring the smooth running of the Unit and the Legal Department.

Competencies and experience

  • Experience: Proven experience leading a team within a legal, financial, or regulatory environment. Strong background in credit agreements, contract drafting and process optimization are essential.
  • Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem Solver: A proactive and creative mindset, always looking for ways to enhance processes while ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Maltese together with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external partners. 
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Qualifications: A Degree in Law, Banking & Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
