Duties and responsibilities
Digital Transformation Manager – Banking Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing operational processes related to banking transactions, payment settlements, and clearing functions. This role ensures that banking operations run efficiently, securely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting the digital transformation of payment and clearing processes. The position requires strong expertise in banking operations, payment processing, clearing mechanisms, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Banking Operations & Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline operational workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
- Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budgets.
Clearing & Settlement Management:
- Ensure smooth and efficient execution of clearing and settlement processes for local and international payments through process improvements.
- Collaborate with central banks, clearinghouses, and payment networks to enhance payment infrastructure.
- Implement improvements to reduce transaction processing time and enhance accuracy.
Payments Processing & Digital Transformation:
- Work closely with IT and Digital Channels teams to integrate digital payment solutions with core banking and operational processes.
- Monitor industry trends and implement best practices for digital payment processing.
Testing:
- Design business test cases for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Develop UAT test plans that reflect real-life usage of the system ensuring that product meets business requirements and user expectations.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including AML, KYC, SWIFT and Central Bank guidelines.
- Work with Risk and Compliance teams to identify and mitigate operational risks in payments and clearing processes.
- Keep up to date with regulatory changes and implement necessary process adjustments.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Vendor Management:
- Engage with internal teams, including Operations, IT, Product, Risk, and Finance, to support operational efficiency and transformation initiatives.
- Manage relationships with clearinghouses, payment processors, correspondent banks, and regulatory bodies, as required.
- Provide training and support to employees to help them adapt to new digital systems and processes.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Establish KPIs to track the efficiency, accuracy, and security of banking operations, clearing, and payment processes.
- Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on operational performance, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain updated documentation and use tools like Jira and Confluence.
Competencies and experience
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- 7+ years of experience in banking operations, payments, and clearing functions.
- Strong knowledge of payment processing, clearing systems, SWIFT, RTGS, and instant payment frameworks.
- Experience in digital transformation projects and process automation.
- Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements related to payments and banking operations.
