Job Description

Overview

Duties and responsibilities 

The Accounts Officer will be responsible for:

  • assisting in the day-to-day accounting processes and reconciliations;
  • assisting in the maintenance of the general ledger and the administration of non-banking analysis codes for effective reporting purposes;
  • assisting in the application of accounting policies and procedures;
  • assisting in the upkeeping of various registers forming part of the ERP chain of activities;
  • assisting in the execution of internal controls;
  • assisting with the posting and payment of invoices;
  • assisting with the reconciliation of supplier statements;
  • compiling ad-hoc reports as requested.

Skills

The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised with a disposition to learn and have a team-oriented approach. 

The Accounts Officer must:

  • ideally be familiar with banking accounting and fundamentals;
  • possess excellent MS office application skills mainly in the use of excel;
  • ideally have previous experience in a similar role which will be considered an asset; 
  • be able to work both independently and within a team;
  • have good analytical skills; and
  • demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in banking is considered an asset; and
  • possess a Degree or Diploma in Accounts, Economics, Financial Services, Business Management or Banking and Finance.
