Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- manage and support the organisation's wired and wireless networks, as well as, other communication links such as Internet connectivity and site-to-site connections;
- manage and support our local datacentres, both Production and DR, as well as administer other cloud-based environments. This comprises all the datacentre hardware including; firewalls, routers, switches, servers and other hardware appliances; including telecommunications hardware, which provide critical services to the core business of the organisation;
- manage and support the organisation's data/server backup and replication strategies, as well as, support the IT team on the BCP strategy in the infrastructure area;
- manage and support the Bank's telecommunications infrastructure and liaise with external providers to escalate support issues;
- support remotely IT infrastructure related issues, both locally and internationally, through our support ticketing system, by providing 2nd and 3rd level technical support and thus strengthening the IT support team. Such includes liaising with external suppliers on escalated issues, which cannot be resolved internally;
- manage vendor relations in the infrastructure area to validate that SLAs are met and adhered to;
- perform regular on-site visits of the organisation's datacentres, reporting any critical issues; and
- create and maintain comprehensive IT infrastructure documentation.
Competencies and Experience
You must:
- have strong analytical and excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- have a strong command of the English language;
- be a great team-player, with a problem-solving aptitude, the ability to work independently and conclude projects within established timeframes and budget;
- be able to support the team on infrastructure related issues outside of normal office hours when requested;
- as a minimum, hold an IT degree, specialising in IT Infrastructure\Engineering with a combination of Networking and\or other certifications in the field of IT Infrastructure or Networking (CCNA\CCNP) or other Microsoft certifications (MCSA\MCSE); and
- have a minimum of 5 years working experience in the IT Infrastructure\IT Security field, with a minimum of 1-year experience as a team leader with strong IT Infrastructure systems implementation and maintenance skills (hardware and software installation skills, server rack mounting, maintenance and troubleshooting of IT hardware and systems software in an IT Operations environment).
Technical skills
You must have:
- practical knowledge of systems and network administration, including Wireless Networks/Network Cisco Switches/Firewalls (Cisco & Check Point) and Cisco Routers, including and not limited to configuration, implementation and first line support;
- practical and strong knowledge of Microsoft Server technology and Windows desktop environments. Other non-Windows environments, such as Red Hat and Debian based Linux will be considered an asset;
- practical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, DHCP, DNS and IIS;
- practical knowledge of Microsoft cloud products, particularly Microsoft Office 365 and suite of products, including and not limited to Intune, Defender, Exchange Online, Teams and possibly Sharepoint;
- practical knowledge on Symantec End-Point Protection;
- practical knowledge of virtualisation solutions (VMWare ESX), Veeam Backup and Replication and Symantec Backup Exec;
- practical knowledge of scripting languages, particularly Windows PowerShell;
- excellent understanding of VPN technologies, TCP/IP and IPSEC; and
- excellent IP network troubleshooting skills.
