Duties and Responsibilities

The Business Support Engineer will play a key role in maintaining, supporting, and enhancing the Bank’s Core Business Systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation and efficiency of core business services, providing day-to-day technical and functional support to business users, and contributing to system improvements and regulatory updates. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure that business solutions align with operational needs and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The Business Support Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Maintain and provide ongoing support for the Core Banking System and its associated peripheral systems.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors for issue resolution, system enhancements, and compliance-related changes.
  • Administer and manage the Business System Service Desk, ensuring timely response and resolution of user requests and incidents.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for the Bank’s core systems.
  • Identify, propose, and drive system or process changes aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Perform routine system health checks and maintain comprehensive records of these activities.
  • Assist and educate business users on effective use of technology tools to streamline problem resolution.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and assess their potential benefits to the Bank’s operations.
  • Extract, compile, and generate reports from core systems as required by management and business units.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • An MCAST or University Degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL scripting and experience working with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), preferably Microsoft SQL Server (latest versions).
  • Basic knowledge of database administration and reporting tools, ideally Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Previous experience working with a Core Banking System will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell/Python scripting for task automation and system management will be considered an asset.
  • A basic understanding of banking operations and business processes.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking abilities with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong team player with excellent listening skills and a proactive approach to support and learning.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to expand knowledge of banking systems and emerging technologies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, the ability to perform effectively under pressure, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Preferable, the candidate will have strong knowledge on Windows systems, TSQL, Powershell and Python. Experience on Bank’s core banking systems will be considered as an asset.
