Duties & Responsibilities 

Join our Credit Analysis Team as a Junior Credit Analyst within SME and Corporate Lending, where you will support the Bank’s mission of responsible and sustainable lending. Reporting to the Office Manager and working closely alongside experienced analysts, you will assist in evaluating creditworthiness, conducting basic financial analysis, and supporting the preparation of lending recommendations. This role is designed to help you build strong analytical foundations and gain exposure to the lending process within a dynamic banking environment.

‍You will be responsible to:

  • Assist in reviewing SME and corporate lending applications by vetting documentation and performing initial due‑diligence checks;
  • Support financial analysis by reviewing financial statements, business plans, management accounts, and cash flow projections under the guidance of senior analysts;
  • Help identify potential credit risks by applying basic financial models and ratio analysis techniques;
  • Ensure that all work complies with the Bank’s internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to collect required information and improve application quality; and
  • Assist in preparing documentation and reports for credit committee reviews.

Competencies & Experience 

The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised with a disposition to learn and have a team-oriented approach. The candidate should also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Maltese, with the ability to communicate effectively using a high level of business English. 

You must have:

  • Basic understanding of financial analysis and key financial ratios;
  • A Diploma or preferably Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Internship experience in banking or finance is an asset but not required.
